چکیده

Studying the evolution characteristics of damage strength and water absorption behavior hollow glass beads solid buoyancy materials used for manned submersibles in hyper-pressure environment will help people to understand mechanism induced submersibles. To explore influence different pressure, temperature, loading rate load cycle times on deformation, failure, buoyant materials, hydrostatic pressure tests under conditions are conducted this study. Based test data, nonlinear mechanical properties two obtained. The results show that affected by increase exponentially as increases. insignificantly affects compressive both materials. Ambient temperature has a great failure high-strength After cyclic loading, decreased, X-ray micro-CT showed internal had good shape no significant change breakage rate. material is mainly due resin base properties, resulting aging performance attenuation. research helpful further fracturing then play guiding role calculating counterweight submersible operation prediction maintenance

Ceramic Spheres—A Novel Solution to Deep Sea Buoyancy Modules

Ceramic-based hollow spheres are considered a great driving force for many applications such as offshore buoyancy modules due to their large diameter to wall thickness ratio and uniform wall thickness geometric features. We have developed such thin-walled hollow spheres made of alumina using slip casting and sintering processes. A diameter as large as 50 mm with a wall thickness of 0.5-1.0 mm h...

Response Characteristics of a Buoyancy-Driven Sea

The authors consider the flow in a semienclosed sea, or basin, subjected to a destabilizing surface buoyancy flux and separated from a large adjoining reservoir by a sill. A series of numerical experiments were conducted to quantify the energetics of the flow within the basin, that is, the amount of kinetic and potential energy stored within the basin and the rate at which these quantities are ...

Unexpected Positive Buoyancy in Deep Sea Sharks, Hexanchus griseus, and a Echinorhinus cookei

We do not expect non air-breathing aquatic animals to exhibit positive buoyancy. Sharks, for example, rely on oil-filled livers instead of gas-filled swim bladders to increase their buoyancy, but are nonetheless ubiquitously regarded as either negatively or neutrally buoyant. Deep-sea sharks have particularly large, oil-filled livers, and are believed to be neutrally buoyant in their natural ha...
